Korean Championship 2023
This week, the DP World Tour makes its debut in South Korea with the inaugural Korea Championship presented by Genesis. The tournament is co-sanctioned with the Korean Tour and features a strong field of local and international players vying for a share of the $1.5 million prize fund.
The venue is the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, a modern and challenging course that offers stunning views of the city skyline and the west coast. The course has hosted several prestigious events in the past, including the Presidents Cup in 2015 and the LPGA International Crown in 2018.
The course is a par 72 that measures 7,470 yards and features plenty of water hazards and bunkers. The wind can also play a significant role in determining the difficulty of the course, as evidenced by the wide range of winning scores in the previous editions of the Genesis Championship, a Korean Tour event held at the same venue since 2017.
Above was put together by our intern who is still learning and seems to make mistakes every now and then. But now for the main course.
Betting card for the week
As last week, this week is challenging to bet because of lenghty break and questions about players' form. Still we managed to make profit last week with some well timed market sells (laying Jazz etc.). Remember to take profits / safe the weekend if possible since this week will be high variance as well.
Because of bookmakers limits - this week focuses solely on the Betfair Exchange and almost closing lines (it's about 3 hours to the start). We took the +EV lines from Winner, Top10 and Top20 market and limited the downside with bet sizing. From the list of possible plays, we had a system to rake out the ones that are in a cold stretch (as in performing well above their 12m average of true strokes gained). This method has been effective and hopefully it will bring results once again.
Here's the card (and here's the rank / data):
Best of luck and enjoy the week!
