For the first time in the League's history, LIV Golf London is returning to a previous venue - the celebrated Centurion Club. This exciting twist on tradition brings an added layer of anticipation and curiosity, as the last time we saw this club take center stage, Charl Schwartzel stole the show with a -7 winning score. With the prospect of the sold-out Sunday, a buzzing atmosphere is inevitable this year.

The European Golf Trail Continues

Following last week's exhilarating stop at Valderrama, the LIV Golf London 2023 carries on the European leg of the tournament. The previous week saw Talor Gooch clinch his third victory of the season, an impressive feat that's got everyone talking. This week, we have six dynamic players from the United Kingdom - Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Paul Casey, Laurie Canter, and Richard Bland.

The Centurion Club: A Testament to Variation

The Centurion Club, which opened its doors in July 2013, is a marvel of golf course design. The mastermind behind its captivating layout is Simon Gidman, who was a relatively uncelebrated designer when he undertook this project. Emphasizing variation, the course presents a blend of distinct terrains and challenges:

• The first five holes are encased in enchanting woodland.
• Holes 6 and 8-13 embody an open style.
• Holes 14-18 exude a grove-like ambiance.

This diversity, as per Gidman's ideology, is inspired by Donald Ross's famous quote, "Variety is the spice of golf, just as it is in life."

The Tactical Challenge

The Centurion Club may not be the longest course, at 7,068-yard par-71, but it offers a substantial challenge. Last year's winning score of -7 stands testament to the venue's testing nature.

A list of obstacles awaiting the players this week includes:

• 80 formidable bunkers.
• Four water hazards.
• Tall fescue surrounding the fairways

Players will have to be strategic and accurate to conquer the course. Any wayward shots will see them ensnared in the hazards that characterize the Centurion Club.
